Finishing Up!

I’m back from Finland and “finishing” up reading posts. I got bogged down by being sick while we were in Finland. (I learned that a steamy hot sauna is your best friend when you have a head cold.)

As I finish reading each set of blog posts, I’ll list people here (in alphabetical order).  I’m also trying to comment, but forgive me if I don’t comment on every post today. I want to make sure everyone gets credit for finishing as soon as possible.

Some folks are still finishing, so this list won’t be complete until later next week. But if you are done and I haven’t listed you please comment below!

(I’ll keep updating this list as more people finish.)

Catching Up!

You may have noticed that I’ve been very AWOL this past week! During the next week, I’ll be catching up with the blog posts that you’ve been writing. Hope you’re all enjoying the last bits of summer too.

Summer vacation is coming to an end and so is the Summer Cool Tools workshop. You’ve all received an email with the end dates for the various SLS systems participating.  And some of you are done! Hooray and congrats!

But for those of you who are feeling overwhelmed, let me offer some ideas for how you can get your PD credit in 10 hours!

That’s just 2 hours for each of 5 Things completed.

  • Most important, pick 5 topics that really interest you and will help you out this coming year.
  • Spend 30 minutes reading the lesson and exploring a few resources. Then complete an activity and write your own blog post about what you learned.

Some activities you might try:

You can do it!!!

Inoreader Bundle
Inoreader Bundle

I’m trying to test out new tools this summer, just like you’re all doing. And like you, I should be blogging about them too. (I’ll try, I’ll try!)

But before I get around to exploring more, I wanted to share an easy way for all of you to follow each others’ blogs. An Inoreader bundle – go check it out. Read some posts by your colleagues in the workshop. And leave comments. Everyone loves comments.

Inoreader is a feed reader, like Feedly. I looked at it ages ago, when Google Reader died Continue reading

EdCamp Global Learning Opportunity

I'm Going to EdCamp GlobalEver been to an EdCamp? If you have, you know what a great experience it can be. Sessions are organized by the attendees at the EdCamp. And you get lots of opportunities to share, learn and contribute. Best of all, you get to make lots of connections.

EdCamp Global is a bit different, it’s an online EdCamp. It will run for 24 hours on July 31 and August 1. The sessions will be held via Google Hangouts and Twitter Chats.

This is a great opportunity to connect with educators around the globe, try a new style of learning and do Thing 18: Online Learning & DIY PD all at the same time!
